Moving from a studio apartment to a two-bedroom earlier this year was both thrilling and overwhelming. On the one hand, all that new space! On the other, all that new space … to furnish! Between having to think about things like a desk for the second bedroom (what a luxury) and calculating how much those things would cost, my husband and I lived with blank walls and empty space for a little longer than I expected.

But one thing we wanted to act on quickly was a rug for our bedroom. The apartment’s parquet wood flooring is slippery, and living in an apartment building means you need to be conscious of how much sound your footsteps make for your downstairs neighbors (or, at least, you should be). I’ve long been a fan of all things Rifle Paper Co., so I immediately checked out their rug patterns to see if something would work for us.

Lo and behold, we almost immediately fell in love with the look of the Eden Mughal Garden Rug in black, and we ordered it in a 7’6”x9’6” size without feeling it first. Luckily, this leap of faith is one of the best ones we’ve made together, and we still rave about it six months later. Here’s what’s so great about it.

What Is the Eden Mughal Garden Rug?

The Eden Mughal Garden Rug rug is basically a Rifle Paper Co. fan’s dream. It’s designed with the signature dreamy florals, and has a neat border with more florals to add a soft, romantic feel to any room. We chose the black background because it felt nice for a bedroom, but it also comes with a cream background for the exact same pattern. The same fabrication is available in other colors and slightly different patterns, too, including indigo, ivory, and rose blush.

Beyond the lovely aesthetics, the rug has some great features. It’s made with Loloi’s CloudPile construction, which is a microfiber designed to feel plush and soft underfoot. The pattern is printed onto the 100% power-loomed polyester, ensuring an even and consistent design. It has an easy-to-clean medium pile and comes in nine sizes, from a small entryway option to one that can fill a grand living room.

Why I Love the Eden Mughal Garden Rug

Immediately after unrolling the rug, my husband and I were dumbfounded by how soft it was. Like, yes, rugs are supposed to be comfy to walk on, but this one is another level. The CloudPile is cushy and lush, which is exactly what you want to feel as you step out of bed in the morning. We did have to put a rug pad underneath it because it slid a bit too much for our liking, even with its polyester/cotton backing. But with that and its position under our bed, it’s rock-solid and peachy soft.

The colors and pattern are also just ideal for a bedroom, as we’d hoped. They evoke kind of an enchanted midnight garden vibe, which I never tire of looking at and goes with everything else in our room. It’s extremely easy to vacuum and still as soft as the day it was delivered.

At $251.99 for the substantial 7’6”x9’6” size, the price is pretty reasonable. This is likely because it’s not made of pricier wool, but that’s just as well, since I have a lanolin allergy. The largest size option, an 8’6”x11’6” rectangle, is $371.99, which is a great deal for how much rug you get.

If you’re looking for an eye-catching, soft-as-silk floor covering, I really can’t recommend this rug enough. After all, it’s florals for beyond just spring. Groundbreaking!
