“All in this house screams us, our family, our souls, and style,” she says of the home, which now features a pink sofa, camouflaged laundry, and mint green iron-framed bathroom doorway, a choice that makes the primary suite feel “cheerful, uncluttered, and even larger than it is,” she says.
Pinto shares the space with her husband, Alessandro Poggi, and their 3-year-old daughter, Polly. They worked with architectural firm 02Astudio to rethink the floor plan, all on a €30,000 budget.
The renovation introduced a new bedroom, bathroom, walk-in closet, and concealed laundry in the hallway, along with plenty of smart additions, and, of course, color. The door-less pink bathroom is Pinto’s personal favorite. “We looked for practical solutions such as the dining room platform to allow the new bathroom piping to pass through, and simple but visually striking ideas such as decorating the doorways and walls,” she adds.
In the kitchen, they kept the original tile, but changed the cabinet color and included plenty of storage through a corner cabinet that has “useful drawers and room for spices.” The fridge, which Pinto likes to say “you have to play hide and seek to find,” is also concealed, making the compact kitchen highly functional.
For the family, their live-hard, play-hard spirit shines in the creative and welcoming home where they are surrounded by an abundance of color.
