In the wintertime the cold, dry air brings painfully low humidity levels into my apartment, which leaves me with a stuffy nose and dry throat and skin. Not only does this make sleeping through the night difficult, but it can also make me feel as if I’m constantly getting sick (who wants to have a sore throat all winter?). So I tried out humidifiers, but none worked well. Plus, I’d have to purchase a new one every winter because by the end of the season, there’d be slimy pink and brown mold engulfing each nook and cranny — even though I’d scrub it daily.

Fortunately this all changed three winters ago, when I bought the Miro NR08M Luma Touch Humidifier. It promised to be easier to clean than other humidifiers on the market, and it actually is!

What Is the Miro NR08M Luma Touch Humidifier?

The Miro NR08M Luma Touch Humidifier is easy to wash because it’s round and almost entirely devoid of corners, and every piece comes apart and is waterproof. The humidifier’s ultrasonic mist-maker floats inside a bowl, and it comes with a noise muffler to keep the motor quiet. It holds 4 liters of water, has various misting and light settings, and can humidify spaces as big as 600 square feet. It can run for 24 hours on low power, or eight hours on full power.

It’s also a cool mist humidifier, which is ideal for heated rooms, as well as safer for children. At $168 the Miro humidifier was a splurge, but seeing as it’s already lasted me for three winters, it’s been worth it.

Why I Love the Miro NR08M Luma Touch Humidifier

In the winter, I run my Miro humidifier pretty much anytime I’m home. I keep it on a lightweight side table that I can easily move around my studio apartment, and I do my best to wash all the pieces every two days. Here are a few reasons I love my Miro humidifier.

It’s so easy to clean.

I keep a humidifier-only sponge by my sink, and use it to wash every single piece of the humidifier with hot soapy water, the same way I’d wash a dirty dish. Once each piece has air-dried, I put the humidifier back together and fill the bowl with water again. The one component that can be tricky to clean is the base of the mist-maker, which has a few small corners, and sometimes requires scrubbing with an old toothbrush.

It solves my dry air issues.

The Miro humidifier’s ultrasonic mist-maker produces a strong mist (just running my hand through the mist leaves my hand wet!) and it does a great job of humidifying my entire studio apartment.

It helps me sleep better.

Without a humidifier, I often wake up in the middle of the night due to a parched mouth and congested nose. But when I run the Miro humidifier all night, it’s much easier to sleep soundly.

It’s easy to fill up.

Most humidifiers cannot be taken apart, and in the past, I would carry the entire device over to the bathtub to fill it with water. But the Miro humidifier’s base is literally just a lightweight bowl, so it can easily be filled up in the bathroom sink.

It looks pretty.

I’ve tried a lot of humidifiers, most of which just look like basic utilitarian appliances. In contrast, the Miro humidifier is aesthetically pleasing, and I don’t mind looking at it every day.
