This Movie Theater Has Beds and It’s Either Your Dream or Your Worst Nightmare
Let’s go on a journey, shall we? We’re going to pretend we’re having an outing at the movies together. Now let’s pretend the movie theater we choose is some hip and innovative spot that has double beds instead of chairs. That’s exactly how date nights can go now at the new “VIP Bedroom” theater located in the Cinema Pathe movies compound in Spreitenbach, Switzerland.
Where you might imagine there to be conventional seats in this theatre, there are instead beds. They’re plush with two pillows each and all have an electronically adjustable headrest. As if that weren’t enough, each ticket comes with slippers, so theater-goers can sip wine in cozy footwear while lounging in a super comfortable bed. Sounds nice, yes?
Of course, you might have some (understandable) hang-ups, including the behavior of others and cleanliness. The company’s owners say they’ve never had any issues yet with patrons acting out of line, but they still promise to change the linens between every single showing so that everyone always has perfectly fresh sheets.
Food and alcoholic drinks are served during the showing. Dining options include crepes, waffles, hot dogs, and popcorn, among other things. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are included in each $48 ticket.
This isn’t the first cinema to up the cozy factor. One in Slovakia opened a similar concept called the “snuggling cinema” in 2016, but with bean bag chairs and sofas instead of beds.
So, if you want my honest opinion on this, I’d go. It’s worth checking out, right? The decor, such as it is, even has a nice modern and yet welcoming allure to it. We do believe a business plan like this might be an invitation for some definite unsolicited public indecency, but if that’s something the company is seriously trying to prevent, then maybe not.
Conclusion: curious enough to go once and take it from there.
