For a year, Raeann has been doing her community building work from a 700-ish-square-foot Brooklyn one-bedroom apartment. But when she first moved to New York, she lived in a sleek, modern apartment that never felt quite right. “I found myself craving a space with character and charm, something that felt more personal and lived-in,” Raeann writes. “That’s what drew me to this apartment. It has the warmth and personality I was looking for, while still offering thoughtful modern updates.”

“I also knew I needed a place with real closet space. As a fashion creator — and a fashion lover in general — I’ve built up quite the collection of clothes and shoes over the years,” Raeann continues. “NYC is notorious for tiny closets, but that just wasn’t going to fly for me. Having the space to store and organize everything was non-negotiable, and this apartment checked that box perfectly.”

Since community is so important to her, Raeann looked not only for an apartment that felt more personal, she was also on the hunt for a “neighborhood with a stronger sense of community. One of the most special moments was when I first moved in my landlord’s son made me a homemade tiramisu and left it with a handwritten note welcoming me to the building. It was such a kind gesture and made me feel instantly at home,” Raeann explains.

“Since I don’t have family here in New York, creating a space that feels truly like home was really important to me, and this apartment has helped me do just that.”
