“When we first saw this [two-bedroom] apartment, we knew the space was perfect for Nidhi and me,” begins homeowner Anil Hadimani, who with his wife, Nidhi Hadimani, purchased this 765-square-foot apartment in Mumbai, India, in 2023.

Homeowner Anil says the couple loved "picking the colorful natural stone pieces for our unique terrazzo dining top that add to the boldness and the quirk in the space."

We as a couple love traveling, exploring new cultures, places, and food,” Anil continues. “We wanted our space to have a holiday home vibe that was a little of everything from contemporary to bohemian yet modern and inspired from art and styles from around the world.”

The couple hired Kruti Mehta and Parth Mehta of 27MM Collaborative (yes, the same designers behind the beautiful Mumbai home renovation tour from earlier this week), to help redesign the apartment to better “reflect different design styles from around the world.”

They wanted their travel memories to be the foundation of the home’s design, and they say that they wanted a minimal but modern look that would be both functional and good-looking. And they needed an outdoor space — something their apartment did not originally come with.

“With a few structural modifications and the demolition of a few walls, Kruti and Parth planned the space that became easy to navigate and was more like an open plan,” Anil writes. But perhaps most impressively, 27MM Collaborative was able to carve out a very cool outdoor balcony for the couple by stealing just a bit of space from the living area.

While sacrificing indoor living area space to create outdoor living space wouldn’t work for everyone, it was the perfect design decision for Anil and Nidhi. And the balcony’s style — reminiscent of the white-colored architecture of Greece — makes it the perfect addition to their travel-themed home.
