Pinterest’s 2026 Decor Trend Predictions Are Already Showing Up In Our Home Tours — Just Look!
There’s no denying that Pinterest is one of the first places many people go to find visual inspiration for just about anything, from hosting a party to decorating a home and even getting dressed in the morning. That’s why I love to see what comes out of the forward-looking Pinterest Predicts report every year. The brand has millions of searches to source from, so the emerging trends the Pinterest team curates tends to be both far-reaching and long-lasting.
For 2026, Pinterest came up with 21 trends total, but four of them really spoke to the world of home design and are worth recapping here. And honestly? These decorating ideas have already shown up in Apartment Therapy’s home tours, so we’re cosigning them wholeheartedly. You can take a look at the full report on Pinterest’s site, but if you want to cut right to the decorating chase, see the trends at work in these Apartment Therapy house tour archive locations.
Afrohemian Decor
According to Pinterest, in 2026 we will see African and bohemian influences merging in the rise of something called “Afrohemian Decor,” a mashup style inclusive of things like vivid Nigerian textiles, Ethiopian wall art, and handwoven natural fiber pieces. Searches for “afrobohemian home decor” are up 220%, while “adire fabric” is up 130%. Other hallmarks of this stylish fusion? Rattan and bamboo beaded curtains, each also up 50% and 60%, respectively, year over year.
In September 2022, Apartment Therapy spotlighted the 190-square-foot Philadelphia studio of Crystal Wyatt, who described her textile- and natural fiber-forward style as “Afrohemian.” Her mix of patterns and textures is evident from this single shot, which showcases both a beaded curtain and the corner of a patterned loveseat.
Extra Celestial
With all the talk of cosmic tourism this year, it’s no wonder home design has become part of the race to space trend. For Pinterest, “Extra Celestial” is inclusive of elements like holographic home accents and shimmery, rainbow-like finishes. Specifically, “alien core aesthetic” is up 80%, and “opalescent” searches skyrocketed with a 115% increase over last year.
How could I see this trend playing out in homes? Potentially, with a metallic wall treatment. There are plenty of reflective wallpapers on the market. But you could take it up a notch just like Shannon Kelly did in her 940-square-foot California cottage, where she tinseled — yes, tinseled! — the walls of her living room. Though this decorating move is motivated by the holidays, I imagine an “Extra Celestial” space might look like this year-round.
Fun Haus
Earlier this year, Apartment Therapy dropped its “New/Next List” for 2025, and one of the top forecasts was “stripe drenching,” which I, myself, wrote could easily create an “electric, circus-meets-carnival kind of vibe” when executed in bold, high contrast colors. This dovetails nicely into what Pinterest is calling “Fun Haus,” a trend that’s all about playful touches and circus stripes.
“The key is balance: pairing punch-line patterns with pared-back palettes to keep the look elevated with a touch of camp,” Pinterest shares in its report.
Searches for “circus interior” are up an impressive 130%, with “vintage circus aesthetic,” in particular, up 70%. There’s something childlike about this trend for sure, so it’s also no surprise that “circus nursery” is up 50% year over year. That’s where I’ve seen Apartment Therapy already somewhat showcase this look, in director and producer Reilly Dowd’s son’s nursery. Pinterest is also reporting that “striped ceiling” searches are up 40%, too.
Neo Deco
The last heavily home-focused trend Pinterest shared was “Neo Deco,” an homage to “crisp chevrons, fan arches, and other geometric hits, all edged in chrome or brass,” according to the report. Apartment Therapy called the return of Art Deco design back in our annual The State of Home Design survey for 2021, so this one is a no-brainer for me, and I do think this period’s hallmarks will continue to shine in 2026 — just in more modern ways.
One of my favorite Deco-look home tours was from handbag designer Gretchen Maull of GG Maull. Apartment Therapy toured her Tribeca high-rise back in 2019, and I still can’t shake this gorgeous vignette, which was pure Deco glam. I expect to see a bit more of an earthy version of Deco this time around, more akin to the spikes in searches Pinterest saw: “brass aesthetic” and “leather banquette,” both up 35% year over year.
