“When I first toured this apartment with my boyfriend, I absolutely loved the natural light throughout the place but thought the finishings were a tad old. After all, they were old! This was especially apparent within the cabinetry and doors, with more than just a few scratches and such,” begins Wendy Yang, who has been renting this 1300-square-foot with her boyfriend for a year-and-a-half.

"The front pillow serves to bring more color to the bedroom, as my sheets are fully white," Wendy writes.

“That’s why I thought the place had dated vibes, but also not so dated that it’s giving Victorian charm, as the house itself was only built in the 1980s or so. I wasn’t at all sure how I’d fill up the space, but I knew the price was amazing and I loved the light. That was good enough for my boyfriend and me!” Wendy continues.

"An awesome way to round out the apartment is the DJ equipment laid out below oil art and a wall of plants. All of the art and DJ equipment is thanks to my boyfriend, and the plants are from our combined forces, as we both loved plants individually prior to moving in together," Wendy writes.

“Now that we’ve fully settled in, I’d like to describe my apartment as colorful and not conforming to any one style. After all, I have no idea what styles even exist out there. All I knew was I wanted the place to focus on art, plants, and books. Those were the main guiding principles as I decorated the place. I like to think that I’ve largely achieved that, so to answer this question the vibe of the place is giving plantsy! Artsy! Booksy!” Wendy writes.

"The pillows on the couch bring so much vibrance to the entire room and are so comfortable. I love the orange one — it's in the shape of a ramen and is called 'Ramen-san.' My boyfriend won it as a grand prize at California's Great America theme park, so it's extra special. Baby Yoda was gifted to us by a friend who later became our neighbor, and is one of the softest things to lie down on."

"Our beloved fiddle leaf tree that everyone always marvels at when they visit us! It has grown so much and is so happy with the level of light it receives in our apartment. I have no idea how we're going to move it next time because it's gotten to be well over 50 pounds by now and is rather unwieldy. But it's happy, and that's all that matters!"

Thanks, Wendy!
