It’s time! Cue Mariah Carey. We got through Thanksgiving, and now we’ve started preparing for Christmas (have you seen Dollar Tree’s festive new glasses?).

But it’s not just us — Reese’s is clearly getting into the spirit, too. The brand started rolling out its holiday candies, and this month, in addition to bringing back those beloved Christmas trees, it’s also launching new Unwrapped Mini Trees

I rushed to three different grocery retailers before I could get my hands on a bright-orange bag. Here’s how they compare to the O.G.

What You Should Know About Reese’s Unwrapped Mini Trees

Late summer, Reese’s launched the Unwrapped Mini Pumpkins. Like the name suggests, there is no aluminum foil or brown wrapper standing between you and the chocolate-covered candy. Instead, these bite-size pumpkin-shaped “cups” (about a quarter of the size of a traditional mini Reese’s cup) were sold in a resealable pouch and ready for snacking.

The launch was presumably a success, because Reese’s kept the same vibe for these mini trees. The classic milk chocolate and peanut butter cups (just smaller and shaped like the most notable Christmas icon) hit shelves in early November and are available in 2.2-ounce and 7.6-ounce bags at retailers across the country including Walmart, Target, and more until January.

My Honest Review of Reese’s Unwrapped Mini Trees

I really couldn’t wait to try these mini chocolate trees, so on my walk home from the store, I ripped into the bag and popped one straight into my mouth. Wonderful! To be fair, they don’t really taste all that different from the original Reese’s cup (more on that in a minute). But I’m a sucker for novelty, and its cuteness adds an extra layer of flavor in all the ways that it counts.

Plus, the chocolate-to-peanut-butter ratio in these mini cups is exactly what I prefer: a little bit more peanut butter than chocolate. And speaking of chocolate, the milk chocolate is as sweet, creamy, and delicious as ever. The peanut butter gives it that classic nutty taste that makes any Reese’s just so good. My roommate and I finished the bag while rewatching Scandal just a few hours after. Luckily, I grabbed two bags while I was at the store, and I will be eating them throughout the week.
