A Seattle Artist Painted Every Room of Her Rental — And Built a DIY Art Studio

“After refreshing Zillow listings for the hundredth time, he found this place,” she continues. “From the moment I stepped inside, I felt a deep knowing that this was exactly the home I needed to continue pursuing my art and healing.”

“That feeling solidified when I walked up the spiral staircase and saw the lofted studio. I could picture all the paintings I would create, the sculptures I could sculpt, the dinners I would host, and the growth that would unfold here. You could say it was love at first sight!”

She decribes the space as a perfect blank canvas. “A charming craftsman home with a storybook cottage feel — white walls and still full of character. It just needed an artist to honor its potential and bring it to life.” It was also the perfect layout for an artist. A spiral staircase leads to an open loft area that she’s crafted into a gorgeous art studio.

The history of the 100-year-old home is special, too. Gianne says her landlord inherited this home from their grandmother, and that they wanted “to find a tenant who would love it as much as she did. I love this place more than I could ever put into words. My grand way of showing it is through designing it with my heart and soul!”

While the relationship between Gianne and her former partner has come to an end, Gianne remained in the rental, “making art and building the home of my dreams.”
