Before Daniela Cioffi and her partner moved into this 800-square-foot Montreal rental five months ago, the vibes were pretty tired. “The apartment had a very dull color palette as grays and bright whites covered the walls. The kitchen was slightly outdated, as was the bathroom,” Daniela begins.

This is the first space the couple have shared together, and Daniela says her creativity really took off when it came to the task of adding their personality to the home. “Drawing pieces and inspiration from my favorite designers and brands (Amber Lewis, Loloi, Indaba Home, Zara Home, and many more), I created a space that felt like myself and my partner,” she explains.

“I wanted zen to be embodied in the space, as well as a sense of home and comfort,” she continues. “To really bring that to life, I contacted Canadian and American artists for handmade paintings made for our apartment. Vision boards were created, days were spent painting cabinets, walls, tearing down parts of the apartment to make it more open. Once it was finally done, it felt like home.”

So what does their home look and feel like now? “A zen, cozy grandmother-modern apartment: soft neutrals, natural textures, and vintage touches create a serene, lived-in space that’s warm, timeless, and effortlessly modern,” Daniela writes.
