IKEA is one of the best places to shop for budget-friendly furniture, home decor, lighting, bedding, mattresses, and even large appliances. The Swedish home furnishings company is known for its excellent prices, relatively easy assembly, and stylish design choices. Not to mention, there are countless IKEA hacks out there to help make some of the particle board furniture pieces feel like one of a kind. But if you don’t have a store near you, there are lots of places like IKEA worth looking into.

So if you love the Scandi home store but want some more options to choose from, we found 12 places like IKEA that, similarly, offer budget-friendly price points without sacrificing style. Keep reading for our findings.

1.  Nathan James

If you have West Elm taste on an IKEA budget, you ought to check out Nathan James. The online retailer carries tons of warm minimalist, mid-century modern, and boho-inspired furniture at surprisingly reasonable prices. From bookshelves and media consoles to dining tables, chairs, and lighting — you’ll find solid, high-quality pieces among its many pages. Factor in the free site-wide shipping and the ease of assembly, and you’ve got a brand that’s beloved by editors and legions of shoppers alike.

With its solid wood build and sleek, retro look, this coffee table looks way pricier than it is. The nested design is great for small spaces, and the height is adjustable if you’d rather make the 23.4-inch-wide table taller than the other — or split them between rooms for extra utility.

2. Floyd

Combine an IKEA-level ease of assembly with elevated minimalism, and you get Floyd. The sustainable furniture company makes smart, stylish pieces that are built to last. AT’s former Best List writer, Kendall Cornish, said her Floyd Bed Frame was life-changing in her review — and she assembled it on her own in only 30 minutes. Beyond beds, Floyd makes gorgeous modular sofas, coffee tables, and shelving.

Floyd’s Form Sectional is practically everything-proof, according to editors. The easy-to-clean couch resists stains and scratches (it even survived a red wine spill!), and is perfectly sized for small apartment living. It’s highly loungable, yet supportive, and the modular design can be configured all sorts of ways so it can change along with your space.

3. Article

Editors agree that Article’s mid-century modern furniture and decor are well worth exploring, especially if you’re a fan of the Scandi-cool aesthetic. AT’s former shopping writer, Nikol Slatinska, for example, loves the Karl Coffee Table, citing its partial lift-top as the perfect surface for working and dining (read her full review for more details!). It’s also fairly affordable compared with other high-end brands. The Vancouver brand makes everything: beds, sofas, dining tables, and so much more. I myself have spent hours perusing its website.

AT’s executive home director, Danielle Blundell is a huge fan of the best-selling Sven Sofa. She combined it with the matching Sven Ottoman to cheat the look of a sectional. “My Article Sven sofa is still going strong after three years of constant use — watching TV, snacking, and the occasional weekend nap or overnight guest,” she says. “The cushions have maintained their loft, and the finish has started getting that patina that leather is known for, which makes it fit in better with the rest of my vintage furnishings.”

4. World Market

World Market can be a little more expensive than IKEA, but for the most part, you can always find a great deal on a stylish piece of furniture or home decor item. The store is tailored to those with more of a bohemian and mid-century modern style. However, you can always find pieces that are versatile enough to pair with any style. Plus, World Market is also one of the best places to shop for holiday decor.

AT contributor Sarah Lyon raved about this affordable, small space-friendly sofa she found at World Market. “It’s comfortable, on-trend, and comes in fun colors,” she wrote in her review. “The velvet fabric is sophisticated looking but durable, too.” Finished with gold-capped tapered legs, this mid-century modern loveseat looks way more expensive than its reasonable $700 price tag.

5. Wayfair

Like Walmart, you can pretty much find anything you need at Wayfair — at least, as far as home decor is concerned. From sofas and rugs to mattresses and bedroom furniture, the online retailer is home to thousands of items at a range of budget-friendly prices. On top of that, you can always count on Wayfair to deliver some of the best home decor and furniture sales.

This gorgeous burl sideboard was the most asked about piece in this Brooklyn apartment tour, and it’s easy to understand why. It looks like a pricey antique piece, but is shockingly affordable at under $300. Its swirling burl wood finish and bronze-toned ring pulls make it the focal point of any room it’s in –– further proving that you don’t have to break the bank to find truly unique-looking furniture!

6. HomeGoods

HomeGoods has prices and styles similar to IKEA, but there’s a bit of a catch. Since HomeGoods doesn’t have an online store and doesn’t offer the same pieces in every stock, you have to be patient with your home decor sourcing (and be willing to hunt for treasures).

7. AllModern

Similar to Wayfair, AllModern has a large online stock of everything from furniture and mattresses to decor and rugs. And, like IKEA, it even has a section dedicated to some of the best at-home organizing solutions. While prices can vary, AllModern is no stranger to sales and offers an excellent collection of stylish home furnishings for budget-friendly prices.

Affordable MCM-inspired sofas do exist, and you can find them at AllModern. This George Oliver piece sports a sturdy wood frame, cushiony square arms, and soft-yet-durable upholstery, making it one of the most worth-it finds from the retailer.

8. Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters is like IKEA but with a trendy twist. The retailer’s home decor and furniture sections feature some of the most unique and stylish pieces, including some IKEA-inspired lighting (like this globe lamp). While not every piece aligns with IKEA prices, you can score a sweet deal when sales roll around.

Plant parents will love this wall-mounted plant stand from Urban Outfitters. The editor-backed piece offers three tiers for plants to perch, without taking up any floor space. It doubles as a sculptural way to display your most treasured trinkets, too, turning them into wall art.

9. Michaels

Michaels is known for its arts and crafts supplies, but it also has an excellent home decor section online. In addition to furniture and home decor, Michaels also features a large collection of organization solutions that are similar to IKEA — whether it be small canisters for the kitchen or large wardrobe organizers for the closet.

Just like IKEA, Michael’s has hundreds of great storage solutions hiding in its pages, like this 4-Drawer Rolling Cart. The sturdy, steel mesh drawers are a great way to maximize storage space in a closet or home office, and the rolling casters make it easy to maneuver around a small space. I also love the way the wood-finished top gives it a more polished look.

10.  H&M Home

H&M Home is another one of our favorite places to shop for budget-friendly home decor, similar to IKEA. The online store features an extensive collection of home furnishings, including sleek and stylish furniture, bedding, and accent decor pieces. With a more contemporary style, H&M Home is one of the stores most like IKEA on our list.

H&M Home is a great place to spot designer-approved finds like this cotton storage basket. It’s stylish, practical, and well-suited for storing everything from towels and toiletries to totes and accessories.

11. Walmart

Walmart offers a range of furniture and home decor options across a variety of different styles both in-store and online. Whether you love a farmhouse aesthetic or prefer more eclectic pieces, this is one of the best places to shop for all of your home needs. Similar to IKEA, you can also shop for mattresses, bedding, and large appliances at Walmart.

Shopping Writer Alexa Casanova was immediately struck by the vintage look of this mid-century modern TV Stand — and for under $200, it’s a no-brainer. The small-space-friendly dimensions (63×15.75×30.25 inches) don’t require much floor space, and its acorn finish brings warmth and charm to any living room.

12. Target

Target is another one of the best places like IKEA. The store’s pieces are closer to IKEA’s higher-end prices in terms of price and style, so it’s a great store to visit if you want to find decor or furniture that feels a little more elevated. Plus, Target partners with lots of different designers — including Joanna Gaines — to make luxury home pieces more accessible.

This Hearth & Hand Side Table is super affordable, and arrives already assembled; just fold out the legs, and it’s ready to go. It’s no wonder why it went viral and continues to get rave reviews online. The tray top’s high edges keeps things from rolling off, and it’s removable so you can style it on your coffee table while entertaining.
