Kelsea Gaynor owns East Olivia Creative in NYC, lives in a fabulous two-story apartment, and has an eye for fashion that is fun, sophisticated and sensible. From her elegant wool skirt suits to her fuzzy pink hats, she knows how to make a fashion statement while keeping warm strolling those chilly city streets. This California native shared with us what inspires her unique style. Unfortunately, she couldn’t figure out a way to share her ridiculously good hair genes.

Your very favorite outfit: A pair of comfy jeans, a great tee and my leather jacket!

The #1 item from your fashion wish list: A Mansur Gavriel bucket bag in blush!

The TV or movie characters’ wardrobe(s) you’d steal in a minute: Annie Hall, of course! Gosh, Diane Keaton is so chic!

Your best bargain find ever: A pair of leather J Brands I found in back stock at work at Anthropologie! We had an extra 40% percent off, they were $950 pants, and I got them for $90!

3 things from your closet you couldn’t live without: Ripped denim, black booties, tee shirts.

Most fashionable friend and why: Brynn Elliott—Brynn has such a killer personal style. I love how she balances vintage and modern and always has a way of making a $5 H&M find look like a designer piece. Also her hair…if you don’t know her, just head over to her blog and you’ll see what I mean—need I say more?

Your typical work “uniform”: A well-curated high-low denim combo, with a great top and two pairs of shoes. Merchandising, floral design and prop styling always requires that I move around a lot and may even involve dirt. Having options is always important.

Best fashion advice: Don’t be afraid to experiment even if you don’t think you can pull off the trend. I think it’s so important to go outside of your comfort zone, if it’s a piece or trend you are excited about. I believe that we wear our clothes—they don’t wear us and that confidence is more important than the articles themselves. We get to decide how to pull off a look—and that is the most fun part of fashion: self expression!
