I Put a Table Lamp in My Bathroom, and the Reason Why Is So Brilliant
The best compliment anyone ever gave me about my home is that it feels “artsy and cozy.” There are so many ways I go about trying to make my place function this way, from making sure our blankets smell fresh for movie night to decorating with these themes in mind. Recently, I created the coziest vignette in the most unexpected spot: my bathroom counter. And all it took was a mini cordless lamp right by my sink.
Why I Put a Mini Table Lamp on My Bathroom Counter
While scouring the shelves of HomeGoods for my favorite type of candle (bergamot or fir in either clear-cut glass or amber glass vessels), I happened upon this cute mini lamp among many other cordless ones. This one caught my eye because it had a cute cream pleated shade that was just traditional enough, and a matte gold base, just glam enough to make it feel modern. I also loved that I could change the color temperature of the light based on how many times I tapped it. (I prefer the warm 2700 Kelvin light.)
I bought this lamp specifically for my bathroom, so that I could turn it on as I’m easing into the day or getting ready for bed at night. The idea was that the glow would be just enough to brush my teeth and wash my face. Wanting to avoid the harsher lights above my mirror, I originally thought to use a candle, but the light wasn’t quite bright enough. Plus I didn’t want to leave an open flame or create tunneling in a candle by not burning it for long enough. The cordless lamp was the perfect soft light solution.
I love how the lamp casts a warm light that signals a gentle start to the day and provides a calming transition to bedtime. One gorgeous perk that I didn’t anticipate is the glow of the lamp during a thunderstorm — it’s actual magic. Sometimes I turn off the overhead lights and use just the cordless lamp when I’m taking a hot bath, and it makes the experience feel so indulgent.
I will note that the lamp definitely doesn’t provide enough light to apply makeup, and I do have to charge it more frequently than I’d like (every other day or so). But the joy it provides in the calm, cozy moments that anchor my days makes it one of my favorite little luxuries that make my home feel like a sanctuary.
A Mini Table Lamp That’s Nearly Identical to Mine
Though I picked this lamp up at HomeGoods and the exact model isn’t for sale online currently, you can find mini table lamps from the same brand for sale at Walmart, or shop a nearly identical touch lamp from Amazon (which comes in all white and brass and beige).
