The Home Design Blogs You Should Be Reading for Endless Inspiration

The Jungalow, by the author of The New Bohemians, combines riotous, refreshing design with incredibly in-depth explorations of how to solve interior challenges such as Design Dilemma: Bathroom Layout, the super-helpful How To Do Room Renderings, and discussions of what a difference small changes can make, as in Little Updates at the Jungalow (above). Widely-varied tutorials include a Moroccan-inspired stool and boho fringe chandelier, and the Learn section is full of educational posts about individual artists, makers and plants.

A Beautiful Mess is one of my go-to websites when I’m looking for amazing yet approachable DIYs—just look at that decoupage dresser! Whenever I’m perusing their archives in search of projects to share with you, I inevitably bookmark a few recipes such as the Butternut and Red Curry Soup or Hot Cauliflower Pizza for myself. Dabito is a jack-of-all-design-trades and the photographer behind The New Bohemians. His blog is a delightful combination of lush photos of his own home (above), fascinating home tours, design discussions such as Tweaking The Guest Bedroom, home makeovers, and political musings. The photography on OLD BRAND NEW is second-to-none, and Dabito posts at a rate of about once every four days, so there’s tons of content but it’s not impossible to keep up with. Dive in!

The Project Gallery of Homey Oh My is where I head whenever I need beautifully minimal tutorials like stone trinket dishes, modern yarn wall hangings, and air plant hangers. The palette of the blog is a soothing black and white with thoughtful pops of color and the contents are easily navigable, so it’s a joy to explore. Amy is the queen of non-cheesy holiday projects, such as rose petal garland, merry pine swag, and gold confetti pumpkins, so check with her when the next holiday rolls around.

Kitka was created as an accompaniment to the beautiful Toronto shop Mjölk, but it has become so much more. Though the blog often features events and exhibits happening at the shop, as seen above, it also documents the owners’ home and cottage renovations, tours of artisan studios and design shops around the world, and lovingly shot explorations of Toronto’s must-see spots for art, design and nature lovers.

This blog is chock-full of gorgeous photos of Scandinavian homes, including the author’s own, those of her friends, and tours featured in hard-to-find Scandinavian publications. Scrolling through her posts will make you want to paint everything white, invest in a few high-quality pieces, and plan your vacation to Sweden. I mean, three of the top categories are White and Grey Homes, Black and White Homes, and White Homes. Come for the monochrome, stay for the deliciously cozy winter holiday style.

In addition to on-trend tutorials like a Half-Painted Wall How-To and handy features such as How to Change Your Wall Color Without Painting Your Walls and 6 Ways to Spruce Up Your Entryway for Fall, Paper & Stitch boasts travel guides, fashion roundups and DIYs, and clever food hacks like 5 DIY Ways to Take Store-Bought Cake From Average to Awesome, as well as original recipes. I check this blog frequently for inspiration and am never disappointed.

The Merrythought is 1/4 classy, classic DIYs like brass magnets and plywood daybeds, 1/4 home makeovers such as the kitchen renovation above, 1/4 enviable gatherings, and 1/4 amazing yet approachable recipes (grilled peach s’mores, yes, please). I refer to this blog regularly, and am constantly inspired and impressed by it. There’s a little bit of fashion and travel thrown in, too, if you’re not in a nesting sort of mood.

Into Australian design mags but don’t have $110.75 to drop on six issues? The frankie blog shares a lot of the great content of the magazine, as well as curated products and projects from around the internet. It’s all surprisingly cohesive, and you can easily pick and choose which type of content—craft, design, art, interiors, and more—you’d like to explore.

Need a bit of funfetti in these trying times? Aww Sam is wall-to-wall festive, colorful, poppy, playful, and fun. Combine the inventive recipes and DIYs next time you’re throwing a bash—why not host a flamingo party with pink cocoa and flamingo marshmallows, sliced flamingo cookies, glowing lawn flamingo lamps, flamingo sun hats, and an incredible flamingo pool float cake?
