The Laundress’ New Collection Makes My Clothes Smell Like They Are “Infused with Perfume”

Laundry can feel like a mundane ritual for many — including me. I’ll spend a whole day on it and feel chained to the machines, switching clothes from the washer to the dryer (and repeat) before taking it all upstairs to be sorted, folded, and hung up. Recently, however, I tested out a new laundry detergent that’s gotten me a little more excited about the whole process because it’s got my clothes smelling luxurious — like I just spritzed myself with fancy perfume. There are three scents: Fresh Take, Soft Focus, and Flora Lunda — all of which have top, middle, and base note scents. Fresh Take is a bright citrus scent with top notes of Calabrian bergamot, sun-kissed petitgrain, and crisp fig; middle notes of turmeric and wild peppercorn; and base notes of cedarwood and soft musk. For something that’s warm and cozy, there’s Soft Focus with top notes of grounding Australian sandalwood and marine mist, middle notes of crisp cedarwood and cardamom, and base notes of creamy ambrette seed and orris root. Then there’s the bold Flora Lunda that has top notes of Sicilian and sambac jasmine, middle notes of iris and white gardenia, and base notes of vetiver and patchouli.

What I love about these laundry detergents is that it’s like having your clothes infused with perfume, but not in an overwhelming way. The blend of fragrance and The Laundress’ enzyme technology ensures that your clothes come out feeling fresh, as well as smell good for up to seven days. The collection is a great place to start because you get to test out each one and either find your favorite (aka your signature scent), or mix them up depending on your mood. 

These laundry detergents definitely feel like a little luxury — so although it’s tempting to use it all the time, I only want to use it sparingly. For instance, I love the idea of using a certain scent for specific pieces in my closet because it’ll only boost the good feelings I have associated with them. I’ll love the way the clothes feel on me and how they smell, and remember all the events and happy memories of wearing them before even putting them on.

While you can thoroughly enjoy each scent, I actually think this collection makes a great gift idea (my mother-in-law was someone I immediately thought of!). It’s the perfect combination of a luxe-yet-practical gift idea — whether you get them the full set, the smaller discovery set, or pick out the scent you think suits them the best.
