Cynthia Nixon Has a Shockingly Normal Kitchen (Take a Look Inside!)
Carrie Bradshaw’s Upper East Side apartment is arguably Sex and the City’s most famous filming location. However, the spacious Prospect Heights brownstone owned by Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon) has emerged as a fan-favorite home over the years, thanks to its location in one of Brooklyn’s most desirable areas as well as its homey, cozy vibes. Nixon demonstrated how life initiates art, as she recently gave fans a rare look at her surprisingly normal Montauk home — and the warm and inviting space looks like it could have been designed by Hobbes.
Inside Cynthia Nixon’s Realistic Montauk Kitchen
In a video shared on Instagram, the And Just Like That actress shared an ultra-relatable kitchen tour from her cozy home in the Hamptons, which she shares with her wife, Christine Marinoni. Wearing an orange apron, Nixon walked fans through the lived-in space — which included rustic wooden cabinets, a black and white dark tile backsplash, a simple dark countertop, and a cluttered kitchen range — as she prepared to serve up some coffee from a simple Italian Moka pot.
“These are my pots and pans and my colanders,” she shared, gesturing to a collection of heavily used stainless steel pans, colanders, and pots hung up on her kitchen wall. Panning down to her stove, Nixon showed off several Le Creuset pieces as well as her steel coffee pot, a glass tea maker, and heavy cast iron pans. Briefly giving fans a look at all the appliances in her backdrop — including a rice cooker, a blender, a toaster, and a dish rack filled with drying dishware — Nixon demonstrated how she used a blue bag hung up by her window to collect “very delicious and very fresh” kale from her garden.
Continuing to lean into the countryside charm of her home while making use of every inch of available space, Nixon also shared her relatable hacks for storing a lot of stuff in a small kitchen. She showed several jars organized on her windowsill, as well as a cluttered assortment of vases, teapots, a lobster pot, and a basket for “bread or biscuits or toast” that were living on the top of her kitchen cabinets. The top of her fridge was also piled high with a wicker basket and several containers.
On her rustic countertop, Nixon displayed kale that was growing seeds in a cup, a half-eaten avocado, and jar of garlic oil before attending to her coffee. Pouring some espresso into a charming ceramic cappuccino cup, Nixon skipped a frother for a simple pot simmering with steamed milk as she topped her drink with a layer of milk foam.
Why People Are Loving Her Kitchen Setup
In contrast to many celebrities’ massive and oftentimes sterile kitchens which feature a go-to mix of neutral marble, sparkling chrome, and quiet luxury accents, Nixon’s down-to-earth cooking area was a welcome departure. Fans quickly took to the comment section to remark on how lived-in and cozy the space felt.
“Finally, a celebrity kitchen that looks like someone who uses it!” one person wrote, while another noted that this was, “a Montauk kitchen that looks like a relatable person lives there!” One fan commented that “I won’t feel bad that my kitchen looks like a kitchen as well. I use my stuff too!”
Unsurprisingly, some fans added some Sex and the City references into the conversation, likening the cozy space to Aidan’s cottage in Sufferin. Sarah Jessica Parker (who plays Carrie Bradshaw) also chimed in, commenting, “I love your kitchen! And you! X.”
Despite Nixon joking at the cluttered space, captioning the video, “I think I need a few more vases (and an in-home hair stylist),” numerous fans also had a new tour request for Nixon: a look at her garden. With patio season now underway, here’s hoping that Nixon delivers by giving fans some cozy, rustic garden inspiration that actually feels attainable.
