This “Gorgeous” Chair Is a Dupe for a CB2 Stunner — Only It’s Half the Price!

There’s lots to love about home decor shopping from big-box retailers, especially if you’re on a budget and honestly … who isn’t? My favorite thing, though, is finding hidden gems that look like they came from a high-end store. On a recent deep dive into Walmart’s vast chair selection, I came across one such gem, and, of course, I had to share. 

When I found the Guyou Modern Upholstered Chair at Walmart, I was instantly reminded of a nearly identical chair I’d spotted at a few high-end stores, but this one was a fraction of the price. For around $200 (prices range from $178-$210 depending on color), you get the luxurious designer look and while that may seem on the pricier side for one chair, compare it to CB2’s $349 version, and you’ll immediately see just how much of a steal this is.

Combining a curved, open back with angular legs, this contemporary chair has a sculptural silhouette. It’s a gorgeous piece that will make a style statement no matter where you choose to place it, whether that’s around a dining table or as an accent chair in the living room or bedroom. With its 4-inch-thick seat and upholstered frame, it can even pull double-duty as a comfy desk chair.

The chair comes in a range of coverings including velvet, linen, faux-leather, and a boucle style material (just like the CB2 version). The available colorways comprise several pale neutrals as well as a bolder orange, olive green, and jet black options. Annoyingly, though, Walmart offers each color in only one material, so you have to choose based on whether you want a certain color or fabric type more. Still, there’s plenty of choice for a range of interior tastes, whether your style leans muted or more vibrant. 

The reviews for these seats have been superb, both in terms of how they look and feel. “These are so special!” one happy shopper commented. “My girlfriend bought these when they first came out from another company and spent $600 on each one. She sat in mine and was shocked at how nice and soft mine were.” Another simply said: “Beautiful chairs for the price.” 

Aside from their competitive cost, purchasers love the fact that these chairs also come fully assembled and are very sturdy. They’re on my wish list now — I just have to figure out where I’d put one or two … and then decide on a color!
