Bright yellow home office with pink chairs, a pink desk, floral arrangements, and a large window overlooking greenery.

While the tiny-house movement shows no signs of slowing down, folks who might not want to take the full-on plunge may gravitate towards accessory dwelling units (ADUs) for a low-maintenance addition to their existing homes. Whether you’re browsing a detached office, a private yoga studio, or even a guesthouse, these tiny homes are just like custom builds for a fraction of the cost. Case in point: This multi-purpose outdoor shed on Wayfair that costs less than $16,000 and receives rave reviews from customers. Some are even calling it a “lifesaver.”

The Sunjoy Esquire Outdoor Beyond Shed Is Endlessly Adaptable

Currently on sale for $15,392.99, the Sunjoy Esquire Outdoor Beyond Shed basically gives you another whole room that lives in your backyard or outdoor space — and all you have to do is ship it straight to your front door. The storage shed measures over 12 feet and 7 inches in width, 9 feet and 10 inches in diameter, and 9 feet and 8 inches in height and comes with fully insulated walls, sliding doors, floor, windows, as well as a three-barrier roof made out of two sheets of galvanized steel and thermal polyurethane insulation that protects against moisture and heat. The floor also comes with a three-layer waterproof system with a noise-reducing mat that’ll keep the ground dry.

Compared to many other ADUs which require you to add insulation yourself, these extra features make it easier to keep your tiny dwelling cool or warm depending on your comfort. The energy-efficient build also offers 99.9% UV protection and is resistant to rust, wind (up to 50 miles per hour), and snow (2,700 pounds), according to Wayfair’s website.

In addition to all the weather-proofing features, the Sunjoy Esquire Outdoor Beyond Shed comes with a one-year warranty and features plenty of interior design elements to maximize the square footage inside. The sliding doors in front, as well as two double-paned windows with screens and blinds, open to let fresh air and natural light into your space.

The shed has locks on the doors and a heavy-duty steel mounting panel and access ports to hold heavy items, whether it’s a TV screen for displaying your workout classes, shelves for your office supplies, or even an air conditioning unit.

With its all-seasons design as well as its sturdy and heavy-duty walls, it’s not surprising that Wayfair shoppers are big fans of the Sunjoy Esquire Beyond Shed, and have gotten creative with how they make it work for their lives.

What Reviews Say About the Sunjoy Esquire Outdoor Beyond Shed

One mom who needed “a break and some personal space” called out the structure’s “value for the money” while dubbing it a “lifesaver” that was an “affordable option that looks more expensive than it is.” They also said that it feels like “another room for the house” versus a typical shed.

Other happy customers transformed it into a multi-purpose room, an at-home gym, a game center, and a yoga room. However, you can also use it as an office space, a place to run your business, a garden shed, a guest area, or a crafting space. The options are truly endless.

Some caveats to keep in mind: The building kit doesn’t come with a foundation, so you’ll need to get that installed yourself to ensure maximum stability and to keep your floors from getting wet. (One commenter urged shoppers to make sure that the foundation is level.)

Additionally, you’ll need to install any plumbing or electricity yourself if you plan to have any power outlets or running water available. The Wayfair listing also suggests getting six people to help build the structure (although some buyers were able to make do with fewer), so you might want to consider hiring a contractor to get the project done.

Keep in mind that shipping dates may vary (it looks like it’ll take about a month to arrive at my home in Chicago if I order it now), so you’ll want to act quickly if you want to have this extra tiny dwelling unit ready to go before the end of summer.
