I Tried Sheets from This Bedding Brand That’s Used at Major Hotels — They’re Just as Luxe as I Imagined
I love to sleep so much, and even though I probably don’t get enough, I relish the moment of pulling back the covers and slipping into bed each night. The ritual of bedtime is why I care so much about what my bed feels like, and especially the fabrics I’m tucking myself into. I’ve tried a ton of different sheets over the years, and I know all the perks of different types, from percale to jersey knit, but never have I found a set that makes me feel like I’m spending the night at a fancy hotel as much as the Cotton Piping Design Bed Sheet Set from American Blossom Linens.
What Is the American Blossom Linens Cotton Piping Design Bed Sheet Set?
American Blossom Linens is known for its high-quality bedding and bath products, which are all manufactured completely in the U.S., from spinning the yarn to weaving the fabric to sewing it into a sheet. My interest in the brand was first piqued when I learned it’s a supplier to some major hotel chains, like Marriott, Hyatt, and Sheraton. I adore a hotel bed so much, I’m always looking for ways to re-create that luxe experience at home.
After taking a look at their bed sheets, I decided to try out the Cotton Piping Design Bed Sheet Set in brown. The 100% cotton set comes with a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and four pillowcases for $379. It’s offered in three colorways — navy blue piping with white white sheets, gray piping with white sheets, and brown piping with natural-colored sheets — and three sizes — queen, king with king-size pillowcases and king with standard-size pillowcases. All shipping on U.S. ground orders is free, and there’s a two-year return policy in case you aren’t loving your sheets, but several months into using mine, I can say I will never be returning them.
Why I Love the American Blossom Linens Cotton Piping Bed Sheet Set
I’ve written about this before, but I don’t always love using a flat sheet. It feels like an extra step to making my bed, and tends to end up bunched up by my feet in the morning. But this sheet set might have me converted. These 100% cotton percale weave sheets are so crisp and smooth, and they’re soft without having any slip, which I’ve found makes them stay tucked in really well. The piping helps line things up perfectly, too, and just feels a little extra special and hotel-like. You can opt for gray or blue piping, but I went with brown because I like the look of the natural cotton-colored sheets, versus the bright white that goes with the gray or navy blue.
The fitted sheet, too, is an absolute gift. It has 16-inch pockets, which means virtually no struggling to pull it onto your mattress, even if you have an extra-thick one. If you’re used to fitted sheets with more shallow pockets that are prone to slip off while I’m making it or in the middle of the night, this one will be a big breath of fresh air. It also has a handy “top” and “bottom” label on the respective ends of the sheet, so you won’t waste time trying to match up the right corners, as I’ve often done with other fitted sheets.
I also appreciated the way this sheet set arrived: It came pristinely folded in an easily recyclable cardboard box with just a sheet of tissue paper, and even a couple of complimentary sachets of tea (Bedtime Blueberry herbal tea — delicious).
Best of all, though, is the feeling of the sheets on my skin. They have a starched texture that’s crisper than most of my percale sheets, but they don’t feel rough at all. It really makes the bed feel like a place for rest, rather than rotting. In writing about their process on their website, they point out that they don’t use any chemical finishes to make the “wrinkle-free” promises that some other brands make (these do wrinkle like you’d expect 100% cotton to do), and the natural feel really comes through. I can see these being a bedroom staple summer through winter, and especially as it gets cold (freezing, actually!) here in New York, I can’t wait to luxuriate in them all season long.
