Name: Mona Tavakoli, Beau Ritten, and cats Minnow and Sushi Location: Central District — Seattle, Washington Size: 700 square feet Years lived in: 2 years, renting Make your way up the stairs to Mona and Beau’s converted top-floor apartment in the heart of the Emerald City, and you can feel the eclectic vibes seeping into the landing. The elongated cat statue staring at you on your way in could be playing a large part. Needless to say, their pad is very cool.

Name: Taiyo Kitagawa and Lebowski the cat Location: Williamsburg — Brooklyn, NY Size: 750 square feet Years lived in: 10 months, renting I grew up in Fuji, Japan and moved to Switzerland when I was 9 years old. I moved to the USA for college, so my apartment contains design influences from around the world. I’m an art director now and my personal style comes through in the space, from the art on the walls to knickknacks.

Name: Gaby Dalkin Location: Lower Queen Anne — Seattle, Washington Size: 2,000 square feet Years lived in: 6 months, owned “I love the Seattle house!” I had just wrapped up shooting food blogger Gaby Dalkin’s lower Queen Anne townhome when she let out that statement with a serene smile.

Name: Lindsay Mills, husband, two young girls and two cats, Penny and Marty. Location: Sherwood Park — Alberta, Canada Size: 1,972 square feet Years lived in: 9 years, owned We purchased our home in 2009. It sat on the market for months due to the overwhelming amount of golden oak, Wedgwood blue, and peachy beige. Because it was built in 1992, it was well built, and had a great layout. When we got possession, I began painting.

Name: Tanya and her family Location: Maplewood, NJ Size: 4,000 square feet Years lived in: 13 years, owned Tanya, who runs the popular Instagram account @houseofsixinteriors, has owned this with her husband Carlos for 13 years. The couple shares the large 1906 Craftsman style house with their four kids: Dylan (12), Emerson (10), Beckett (8), and Peyton (5). This is our living room. The place where we all gather at the end of the day—under blankets and catch up, laugh, watch TV, play games.

Name: Chuck Jones Location: South Pasadena, California Size: 900 square feet Years Lived In: 3 years, renting Covered in stucco and overgrown vegetation, this pre-fab piece of history sat unknown to locals and lost to time until purchased in 2006 by Sergio Santino. Since uncovering this mid-century marvel—built by renowned industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss and architect Edward Larrabee Barnes—Sergio’s childhood friend Chuck Jones has resided here.

Name: Maggie Williams Location: St-Henri, Montreal Size: 1,500 square feet Years lived in: Rented 1 year Maggie‘s old converted Montreal loft is visually striking and incredibly spacious, but in the wrong hands, its industrial elements could dominate. Thankfully, Maggie’s always loved thrifting and finding beauty in other people’s discarded items. She hunts for unwanted furniture pieces, repairing and refinishing them.
