Before & After: A Marble Coffee Table Goes Modern
If you’re a fan of Carrera marble, you’ll understand why Paris was so excited to come across an affordable pair of marble-topped tables on Craigslist. A Houston Town Home Full of “Tailored Maximalism”
Name: Christian Location: Museum District — Houston, Texas I live in a rented town home in the museum district that I share with two college friends and my dog, Adelaide. The townhouse is about 2,200 square feet and the exterior is what I’d like to call pre-recession tuscan (it was built in 2007 and was probably inspired by the original Real Housewives of the OC, but on a much smaller scale).

This 700-Square-Foot Boston Condo Goes from “Perfectly Lovely” to Modern Showstopper
Project by: Farr North Interiors Location: Boston, Massachusetts A previous renovation in 2010 gave a perfectly lovely cosmetic upgrade to a once-dated 710-square-foot condo in Boston. Though the modernization created a significant aesthetic improvement, layout and flow issues remained in the 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment originally built in the 1800s. To reconfigure the home, the homeowners brought in Kerry Farr of Farr North Interiors to tackle the small space challenges.

Survey Reveals That People Want Bigger Homes—Except in this One Country
For many people, bigger is still better—especially when it comes to their homes. Sure, that motorized monstrosity known as the Hummer is no longer in production, and McMansions have fallen out of favor in recent years as tiny homes tickle our imaginations. But according to a new survey, in much of America, size still matters—and big isn’t big enough.

Everything You Need to Know About Biedermeier Style
More than a century before the Eameses created their simple, honest furniture designed to appeal to the everyman, a style of furnishings emerged in Germany, one whose simplicity, visual lightness, and playful geometries were a herald of things to come. Biedermeier is notable for being the first decorative movement that was created by and for the middle class, and even today, after two centuries, these pieces still feel surprisingly fresh and modern.

Supergraphics: Is this OTT ’70s Design Trend Making a Comeback?
One of the perks of having a mother who was very into both garage sales and interior design was growing up in a house filled with wacky old design books from the 1960s and ’70s. In their pages, I was exposed to many strange and wonderful things, not least among them supergraphics, the crazy stripes and arcs and rainbows that covered every surface of a room, irrespective of walls or floors or furniture.

Kacie’s kitchen lacked personality, especially this corner nook which she found drab and dingy. A Perfectly Preserved 1950s Ranch House

We weren’t even on the market but as soon as we walked into the kitchen, I turned to the realtor and said, “We’ll take it.” A mid-century ranch in New England that was built with every mod-con available in 1958 and never updated is a rare find. We’re putting the house on the market but wanted to celebrate it before we say goodbye!
