We at Apartment Therapy Media and our three brands — Apartment Therapy, Kitchn, and Cubby — are deeply grieved over the shocking gun violence of the past weeks. We mourn for the victims of the Buffalo supermarket shooting, the Laguna Woods church shooting, and those of the Uvalde school tragedy. We also mourn for the thousands of others who have been killed in mass shootings — a daily reality for far too long.

"As we celebrate Blackness and Black freedom this Juneteenth, we must also recognize there’s still work to be done to achieve a world that empowers and values Black lives."

As parents we're hungry for any ideas or resources to make life a little easier. So we created exactly what we want: Cubby, your essential weekly read on home, food, and play for families.

We didn’t have any particular license to do a retrospective on 2018’s most joyful moments. But at the end of a pretty grim year, we felt like it. So we gave ourselves an excuse and decorated a whole bunch of miniature holiday trees in honor of them. Here are eight of the moments that made us pause, laugh, and connect. Dear Readers, You may not realize it, but Apartment Therapy Media is a kind of weird and quirky corner of the internet.
