My editor has a theory that the first holiday weekend of the year, recognizing Martin Luther King, Jr., is a really good time to scope sales on mattresses and bedding, including sheets, pillows, and blankets. That’s because a lot of brands offer new product lines around Daylight Saving Time and Sleep Week in early March, so they’ve got to clear their warehouses ahead of time. And after perusing the internet, I have to say — she’s on to something.

Right now you can save hundreds on mattresses at Saatva and Casper; enjoy sitewide sales at Brooklinen, Sunday Citizen, Nolah, and The Company Store; and buy one, get one 50% off at Coop Home Goods. Below, I’ve rounded up the 21 best deals on bedding and mattresses we’ve rigorously tested and would wholeheartedly recommend anyone sleep on. From Buffy to Puffy, keep scrolling for our editor-approved picks.

The Classic Mattress, Queen
$2,179

This is nothing like those innerspring mattresses from back in the day. Our favorite innerspring mattress combines two layers of steel coils with a plush and breathable pillowtop and gel-infused memory foam for night after night of supported sleep. Former Commerce Executive Director Mark Marino tested the Luxury Firm version, which provides medium firmness and is designed to feel like a luxury hotel bed. (There are also Plush Soft and Firm varieties available.) “It definitely provides plenty of support for my back when I’m sleeping and I have yet to wake up achy or sore,” reported Mark, who considered this an upgrade from his old mattress that alleviated back pain.

Bedsure Comforter Duvet Insert, Queen
$50$34

This is the most affordable bedding on this list, even when it’s not on sale — but taking 40% off the original price certainly doesn’t hurt. Our favorite budget duvet insert works for all seasons, according to Shopping writer Nikol Slanitska. “Plus, its box-stitched design keeps the fill evenly distributed, so it won’t bunch up all around you,” she wrote in her review. As of this writing, more than 5,800 Amazon shoppers have left glowing five-star reviews for this “perfect” blanket.

Crinkle Percale Organic Cotton Sheet Set, King
$186$93

Our favorite budget-friendly cotton percale sheets are on final clearance, so grab a set while you still can. The organic cotton sheets have an open, airy weave and a crinkle finish that provides a lived-in look. Social Media Manager Samantha O’Brochta confirms they’re “very soft” and comfortable on hot summer nights.

Dreamweave Waffle Bed Blanket, Full/Queen
$219$186

We dubbed this the best blanket for all seasons because of its thermoregulating Turkish cotton material, which makes it a cozy layer no matter the temperature outside. There are other perks, too: “Unlike many of my other blankets, it’s not too thick, which makes it easy to fold and store without any bulk,” reported Assistant Shopping Manager Mila Hoang. “It’s also much larger than I expected — definitely big enough to fully cover a bed.” The only thing we don’t love about it is the price — so grab one while it’s on sale.

$186 at Brooklinen
Belgian Flax Linen Sheet Set, Queen
$299$289

There’s something so classy about having a linen sheet set in your rotation, and this Pottery Barn bestseller is on sale in all 41 colors right now. Contrary to popular belief, they’re not a one-season wonder: “I’ve tried them during every season, keeping me cool in the summer and comfortable in the winter, and they remain a gorgeous, surprisingly soft option year-round,” said former Shopping Writer Morgan Pryor.

Its adjustable memory foam fill is infused with cooling gel, there’s a cool-to-the-touch cover, and it comes in three different shapes to accommodate back, side, and combo sleepers. Immediately after unboxing, “I noticed just how cool to the touch it was,” said former Commerce SEO Editor Sarah Vazquez, and she confirmed it was still “icy cold” when she went to sleep on it.

Snug Bed Blanket, Queen
$185$130

This is our absolute favorite bed blanket, hands-down. “Dare I say the blanket is even softer than the comforters?” Senior Shopping Writer Britt Franklin said in her review. “It’s super cozy and has a gorgeous texture. I’ve been using it as an extra bedding layer during the transitional months, and it’s just the right weight — not too heavy or too light, so I get added warmth when I need it and I don’t overheat either.”

$130 at Sunday Citizen
Organic CrispCool Cotton Sheet Set, Queen
$165$116

Hello, hot sleepers: The best cotton percale sheets you can buy are designed to feel like luxury hotel linens, and according to former Commerce SEO Writer Haley Lyndes, they really do. “These sheets are seriously some of the softest I’ve ever felt. Plus, they fit my bed perfectly and have held up great through every wash.” The 300-thread-count sheets have a matte finish, and the fitted sheet fits mattress corners up to 16 inches deep.

The Dream Max, Queen
$3,295$2,595

Right now you can save more than $500 on the best hybrid mattress we’ve slept on. Former Commerce SEO Editor Sarah Vazquez, who had been sleeping on a different Casper hybrid mattress, considered this “an improved version,” adding, “the balance of support and plushness is perfect and I slept so soundly (no back or side pain!).” The five-layer mattress has a medium-soft feel that’s suitable for all sleep styles and excels at cooling, motion transfer, and support.

Eucalyptus Mattress Protector, Queen
$80

Mattresses are an investment worth safeguarding, so you might as well grab the best mattress protector we’ve tested while it’s on sale. “It’s waterproof yet quiet, so I often forget it’s on my mattress,” said Senior Shopping Editor Britt Franklin. It doesn’t trap heat or get bunched up under my sheets, so I continue to sleep comfortably, and I love the assurance that my mattress is protected from spills, sweat, or any other mishaps that could affect its quality.”

CloudLoft Pillow, Queen
$109$78

Not only can you save on our favorite bed pillow, which former Director of Brand Activation Allison Bartkus loves because it “never flattened out” during the night, but you can also save on new pillowcases: This one features a patented cover that’s designed to reduce sleep lines and hair frizz. The pillow accommodates all sleeping positions, and Allison, a back and side sleeper, said she was able “to sleep comfortably without sinking down or waking up with a stiff neck.”

True Temp Sheet Set, Queen
$150

Rest assured that these sheets will work on any mattress that’s up to 15 inches thick, not just on Sleep Number beds. Our number-one recommendation for cooling sheets, the set features proprietary technology to trap heat and release it away from your body. “It kept me cool all night (which is a huge feat) and washes so easily,” said Editor-in-Chief Charli Penn, who was also “beyond impressed with the softness.” “The Exact Fit design is really important because as a hot sleeper when I sweat and stick to the sheets at night, they often move or shift. Not these! They’re practically perfect!”

Leesa Original Hybrid Mattress
$1,499$1,199

Once Assistant Shopping Manager Mila Hoang started sleeping on this mattress, she quickly stopped identifying as a person with back pain. “As a side sleeper, I love that this mattress does not sink … it does contour to my body to a certain degree for comfort, but I have not experienced back pain after waking up, and I no longer toss and turn throughout the night.” The hybrid mattress has two foam layers toward the top, a third with individually wrapped springs, and a high-density base layer. For a little extra, you can upgrade to the Cooling Quilt Top cover, which is a little cooler and plusher than the original.

$1,199 at Leesa
Microcoil Mattress Topper, Queen
$660$429

Our favorite luxury mattress topper is still way cheaper than buying a whole new mattress. It combines individually wrapped coils with cushy foam and encases it in a cooling cover to prevent you from overheating. “I’ve never had a topper that strikes a balance between supportive and cushioned so perfectly,” former Commerce Assistant Editor Morgan Pryor reported. “The thickness and added height are great, and it isn’t difficult to fit sheets around it. Most importantly, my back pain has lessened, and even just sitting on the edge of my bed is so much more comfortable now.”

$429 at Nolah
Sahara Nights Pillow, Queen
$80$56

Senior Shopping Editor Britt Franklin compares this pillow for stomach sleepers to the pillows she loves sleeping on at hotels — which makes sense, as Sobel Westex supplies linens to resorts around the world. “Thanks to the gel-infused microfiber fill, it has cloud-like comfort with a bit of support to keep me from feeling like my head is directly on my mattress,” she said of the low-profile pillow.

The Company Store LaCrosse Down Alternative Blanket, Full/Queen
$189$142

Former Senior Style Editor Blair Donovan jokes that this blanket should win an Academy Award for “Best (Bedding) Supporting Actor.” That’s because she uses it as an additional layer on winter nights, as a duvet insert, and as a comforter for guests who stay on her couch. “This blanket washes well — and fits in the washing machine, most importantly,” she added.

$142 at The Company Store
Breeze Comforter, Full/Queen
$250$188

Looking for a lightweight comforter? This is your best bet. “It’s the only comforter I can imagine using in the hotter summer months or on a cold winter night where I’ve gone overboard on the heat,” said Editor-in-Chief Charli Penn, who identifies as “a VERY hot sleeper.” It’s made with soft and breathable eucalyptus-based fabric, it has corner loops that let it function as a duvet insert, and once you’re done using it (in several years), you can compost it — yes, really.

$188 at Buffy
Puffy Deluxe Mattress Topper, Queen
$245

What’s unique about Puffy’s topper is that it’s built into a fitted sheet that fits mattresses up to 15 inches thick and can be thrown in the wash with the rest of your bedding. Our tester has used this mattress topper for at least a year, and he noted that his bed is “10x comfier” than before. Choose between two firmness levels — both of which deliver 2.5 inches of memory foam comfort.

Organic Cotton Jersey Sheet Set, Queen
$116$81

Are you a cool sleeper in search of new jersey sheets? Then stop scrolling! Our best overall jersey sheets gave us more of that cozy “lived-in T-shirt” feel than any other set we tried. And because of the naturally stretchy nature of these organic cotton sheets, you won’t have to fight your mattress when putting on the fitted sheet. To make sure they get softer with every use, we recommend running them through a cold-water wash and a low dryer setting before adding them to your bed.

$81 at Bare Home
Evercool Comforter, Full/Queen
$229$171

Deal alert! New customers can take an extra 15% off at Rest’s New Year’s sale when they sign up for the brand’s emails. We’d recommend using it on the best cooling comforter we’ve tried, which contains proprietary filling that’s somehow plush, soft, and cool all at the same time. “The entire blanket is cool to the touch!” wrote Senior Shopping Writer Britt Franklin, a Louisiana resident. “If I ever start to feel warm, all I have to do is slightly change my sleeping position instead of throwing the comforter off of my body. Additionally, I don’t get the night sweats because the comforter is both temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking.”

TEMPUR-Symphony Pillow
$99

Buy two and save $29 on the pillow our Editor-in-Chief calls “a hybrid sleeper’s dream.” She adds, “I have a lot of neck pain at night, and this pillow made me forget that was even a thing.” One side of the pillow is contoured to provide extra support to the head and neck as you sleep on your back, while the other is flat for optimal comfort when lying on your stomach or side. Of course, it’s made with Tempur-Pedic’s proprietary memory foam that adapts to your shape and never needs fluffing.
