Location: Irish Channel, New Orleans, Louisiana Size: 2,200 square feet Years lived in: 9 years; owned Valorie Hart is fearless when it comes to style. Her bright pink pixie coif, bold wardrobe and oversized eyeglasses, reminiscent of fashion icon Iris Apfel, make clear that this decorator, interior designer and stylist loves to have fun and make a splash.

Name: Danielle Colding Location: Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York Size: 800 square feet Years lived in: Almost 2 years; Rented “Everything in here is from so many generations,” explains Danielle as I ooh and aah at an apartment packed with style and sentiment. At every turn there is a beautiful something and a story attached to it. Danielle is not afraid to let me know that for her, “more is more” when it comes to creating a home you want to come home to.

Name: Cesar Location: Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil It all started in my childhood. I was always in love with architecture, art and history, and consequently, I started collecting all sorts of objects. To me, they told a story and reminded me of specific times and aesthetics. Over time, this seemingly disjointed collection made sense, and I use it in my decor.

Name: Heather and Jeff LaHaise Location: Wales Garden; Columbia, South Carolina Size: 2,600 square feet Years lived in: 6 years; Owned Heather and Jeff LaHaise, along with their son Walker (a high school freshman) and dogs Charlotte and Teeny, are surrounded by art. Heather is an artist herself, and her appreciation for art and design shows in every room. The LaHaise family uses every inch of their 2,600 square foot home, built in 1920 and revamped for a modern lifestyle.

Name: Briana Babani and Dominic Cancilla Location: North Loop; Austin, Texas Size: 1050 square feet Years lived in: Rented 1.5 years Artist Briana Babani and her husband Dominic had to tackle two of the biggest challenges renters face. One: how to combine the homes of two furniture lovers (recently married) and two: how to make a home with a stylish previous owner and very distinctive bones look like you.

Name: Michele and Ryan Tansey (plus Jake, Paws and Princess) Location: Madrona, Seattle, Washington Size: 2,080 square feet Years lived in: 3 years; Owned Michele and Ryan Tansey may look familiar to you — they were featured in an Apartment Therapy House Tour in 2011 and in an editorial post about their wedding at home.

Name: Joshua Alvarenga (and his cat Valentino)Location: Hollywood – Los Angeles, CASize: 700 square feetYears lived in: 1 year – rented One of my favorite things about a home is when the owner brings out the best in the architecture and original design of the structure. Joshua has collected furniture and personal treasures that are wonderful and cozy but that also allow us to enjoy the Spanish style of the building itself.

Name: Rodellee Bas- owner of Adore Vintage Location: Fashion District – Downtown Los Angeles, CASize: 300 square feetYears worked in: 2 months Rodellee moved into her downtown workspace just a couple months ago, as she’s expanded the audience of her online vintage shop. She needed to have an official space to get all her e-commerce shoots done, and a place to have shoppers actually come in to try things on.

Name: Dean Fisher (and Bunny, a corgi-beagle mix) Location: Logan Square — Chicago, Illinois Size: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom Years lived in: 1.5 — rented One of the first things Dean said to me was, “I love old things.” A glance around her apartment will confirm this statement, as the eye readily falls on vintage furniture, taxidermy, and old copies of National Geographic. The place is full of antique treasures, but make no mistake: this is no fusty lair.
