Dyson Introduced the Slimmest Vacuum Ever, and It’s Perfect for Small Spaces

Vacuuming is an essential part of keeping your place clean, regardless of the square footage you have in your home. For those with smaller spaces though, you’ll want a vacuum cleaner that’s not only powerful and durable, but also doesn’t take up much room so you can store it away without any issues. I just learned about a brand-new vacuum cleaner that’s perhaps the best choice for those with small spaces.

Dyson, which is constantly expanding and innovating its line of high-end products — from vacuums to fans to air purifiers and even heaters — just announced the most small-space-friendly designed cleaner they’ve created yet. The PencilVac is a lightweight cordless vacuum that’s being coined as “the world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner.”

Overall, Dyson vacuum cleaners excel in everything they do — strong suctions, smooth operation, and efficient cleaning — and the PencilVac is no different. As the slimmest vacuum cleaner (it’s only 38mm in diameter) it can reach the narrowest gaps, and because it can lay flat on the ground, you can use it to get under the lowest furniture pieces. 

But it’s still a super powerful vacuum cleaner in spite of its size. It spins at 140,000 revolutions per minute (RPM) to generate 55 air watts (AW) of powerful suction and the battery can last up to 60 minutes. The PencilVac has two long brush bars outfitted with four Fluffycones, which are the company’s newest cleaner head option. It detangles long hair by ejecting it from the brush bar as you clean. As someone with long hair, I can attest that this will be a game-changing function. You’ll never have to struggle to remove hair from your cleaner head ever again. 

Each brush bar rotates in an opposite direction, so you’re able to clean forward and backward. The laser-like LED illumination makes it easier to see exactly where you need to clean next, too. 

This lightweight vacuum uses the brand’s latest filtration system, which separates dust and debris from the airflow without causing any clogs. What does this mean? It captures 99% of particles, so only clean air is expelled back out, and then the dust is compressed to increase bin capacity and minimize the amount of times you have to empty it out.

Because of its slim size, strong suction, and game-changing technology, the Dyson PencilVac is perfect if you live in a smaller space. 

Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait awhile to get the Dyson PencilVac in the U.S. While the launch is exclusive to Japan for now, the company plans to make it available in the U.S. in 2026.
