I Slept on These Bamboo Sheets for a Month — and I’m Not Going Back to Cotton

Like so many others, I’m sure, my New Year’s resolution this year was to refresh my space. Specifically, I wanted to finally show a little love to the most neglected room in my apartment: the bedroom. The space felt really barren and neutral, almost like an afterthought, and it was turning into a graveyard for pieces that no longer fit anywhere else. It just didn’t feel cohesive, or “me.” 

The bedroom simply felt like the lowest priority for decorating, as I spend most of my time in there asleep. But the more I thought about it, it’s also a super-personal space and it should feel calming and comforting. 

I found myself going back and forth on the big decisions: Should I paint? Or maybe wallpaper? Or maybe just rearrange? So I decided to start somewhere less daunting: the bed. I decided I’d make a few simple upgrades to the focal point of the space, and see where that led me. That’s where ettitude’s Luxe Bamboo Sheet Set came in. 

Editor-favorite brand ettitude wasn’t new to me: I actually tested out their Signature Sateen Sheet Set years ago, when I still had a full-size bed. When I upgraded to a queen, my first thought was quite literally, “Oh shoot, my sheets!” Realizing my ettitude sheets would no longer fit made the whole “upgrade” thing bittersweet — so when I got the chance to test their new Luxe Bamboo Sheet Set, I jumped at it! 

What makes ettitude’s sheets unique is that they’re actually made from bamboo. Although I was skeptical, when I first unpacked these it was pretty much love at first feel. These sheets are soft — truly soft. I’m talking cloud-like; one reviewer aptly describes them as “weightless.” I’ve been sleeping on them for over a month now, and they feel just as fantastic as they did on the first night.

Their patented CleanBamboo® PLNTsilk™ fabric is sustainably made in Peru by local artisans. Plus, the sheets are antimicrobial, anti-odor, and anti-fungal, which adds an extra layer of peace of mind when you head to bed. 

I love everything about the PLNTsilk™ fabric in this new Luxe set. It’s breathable, sustainable, and feels unbelievably high-end. Since receiving them, I’ve washed these sheets about three or four times, and so far the color is holding beautifully. I also haven’t noticed any change in the softness of the fabric. No pilling, either! They do tend to cling to cat fur, similar to microfiber — but that’s not very noticeable (and honestly just the reality of cat ownership). 

I chose the “Quartz” color, a delightful warm pink tone, so they’d stand out against my simple white duvet — and stand out they did. My hallway is painted the same shade of pink, so adding pink sheets was the perfect way to pull the space together and make it feel a bit more cohesive. I was so in love with the color, in fact, I realized I might need to reupholster my headboard to match … and so I did!

I’m very picky about pillowcases, thanks to my sensitive skin and super-fine hair, and I usually sleep on satin. That said, these pillowcases perform much the same as some of my satin pairs. My hair is relatively tame upon waking up, and I haven’t noticed any changes to my skin! Plus, I love the envelope closure. It makes the whole bed look so much more polished. 

One final note: The fitted sheet in this set is truly fantastic. I have a 14” mattress plus a mattress topper, and it can be really hard to find fitted sheets that actually fit and stay put. But I’ve had exactly zero issues with this one. So rest assured: Even with an extra-tall mattress, you won’t have to worry about loose corners or weird bunching. 

These sheets are definitely an investment, as are any truly nice sheets. But in my opinion, they’re well-worth it when they make simply getting into bed every night feel luxurious. The brand claims their new Luxe Sets to be “more luxurious than cotton 1,000 thread count” sheets, and I’m inclined to agree. I’m already considering ordering a second set, maybe in another color — there are 13 fabulous shades to choose from.
