Chances are that by now, you’re familiar with one of the 2020s’ most popular design silhouettes: the curvy couch. I’ve been noticing lately that couches aren’t the only ones getting the rounded treatment, however — pill-shaped decor is popping up everywhere these days. From benches and coffee tables to lighting and pillows, we’re calling it: This shape is about to be all over your feed, if it isn’t already.

Curved silhouettes have been on the rise in the design world for much of the last five years, and I’m only loving them more. I think rounded furniture is a direct response to the harsh lines of minimalism and modernism: Softer edges create a soothing and cozy vibe. They feel safer somehow than sharper lines — think a warm hug vs. the threat of a stubbed toe. I’ll take the hug, thanks!

The rise of the pill shape is the natural next step in the evolution of curvy furniture. While I still love the curvy couch trend, it’s fun to see this soothing shape popping up more and more in other furniture and decor. Check out some of my personal favorite pill-shaped pieces below.

Jane Velvet Upholstered Storage Bench
$699

This Velvet Upholstered Storage Bench from Urban Outfitters is more than just a pretty face: I like that this piece is a fun hybrid between seating and coffee table. Perfect for small spaces, you can use this piece both ways. Plus, those soft, rounded, and upholstered end pieces mean no stubbed toes! 10/10.

Maribo Storage Ottoman
$299

This 32” Boucle Storage Ottoman is another piece that does double duty as both storage and seating. The sandstone shade adds a fresh new feel to the bouclé, and gives it an even cozier feel.

Solinger Velvet Pill Pillow
$98

This pill-shaped pillow (pill pillow? PILLow?) just screams luxury. The plush velvet pairs perfectly with the unexpected round silhouette, making this piece the perfect combination of statement-making and classically cozy.

Lucie Iron Mirror Entryway Storage Console
$369

To be fair, this piece is like two halves of a pill, but I think it counts. Fun circular storage hooks on the side and a rounded mirror make this entryway console perfect for any entryway. I could also see this in a bedroom as a kind of vanity and accessory storage station.

Metal Framed Pill Wall Mirror
$299

This classic pill-shaped mirror from West Elm is timelessly stylish with a distinctive modern touch. A perfect midsize mirror, this piece would be perfect as part of a gallery wall or for a “last look” by the entryway if you don’t have space for a console.

Latitude Run Tambour Console Table
$185$163

A good console table can make a huge difference in any space. The deep, warm wood tones of this piece combined with the modern rounded silhouette exude sophistication — and all for under $200.

Raquel Velvet Oval Mirror Decorative Tray
$58

It was love at first sight for me with this adorable pill-shaped tray from Anthropologie. The velvet and brass trim combined with the mirrored bottom make this piece feel so luxe. Perfect for keeping your perfumes on display or your jewelry organized.

AKTERSPRING Table Lamp
$80

This little brass-plated lamp from IKEA packs a seriously stylish punch. The oval base is echoed by the stylish oval glass lamp, a distinctly modern piece with a decidedly vintage feel.

Ebern Designs Accent Cabinet
$170$148

This pretty little pill-shaped cabinet makes me want to create a cute and cozy coffee station, or a bar cabinet moment. The tambour doors and walnut finish again make this piece feel luxe, but for less, at just under $150.

Salon Sconce
$580

Perhaps my favorite piece on this list is also the most pill-like. Anthropologie’s Salon Sconce would be gorgeous in any space. Tthe alabaster globes produce a warm and ambient glow that’s perfect for setting a cozy scene. Talk about a showstopper!
