Our family room is where my husband and I like to gather and enjoy lounging, watching movies, and spending time together. Because we didn’t buy a home with a dedicated bonus living room layout on the main floor, our finished basement has become that cozy hangout zone. But this area comes with a major challenge: steep, narrow stairs with a 90-degree turn.

That meant traditional pre-assembled sectionals were out. We needed something modular, comfortable, and stylish enough to justify the price tag. When we got the chance to test the Soka Home Tender Wabi-Sabi L-Shaped Sectional in our space for an editorial review, we were cautiously optimistic. (Spoiler: It’s been a dream ever since.)

What Is the Soka Home Tender Wabi-Sabi L-Shaped Sectional?

Delivery and setup were surprisingly seamless. Because it’s a modular design, each oversized piece arrives separately, which made navigating our tricky stairwell super easy. Plus, Soka Home’s white glove delivery team was professional and efficient. We had the specs on each piece ahead of time (shoutout to customer service for the support!) and, with a little help, setup took minutes. You can totally do it solo, though.

This sectional is as breathable and supportive as it is plush. We’re really hot sleepers — the kind who used to wake up miserable and soaking wet after a Sunday nap on our old couch. The Tender Wabi-Sabi’s breathable linen covers always feel cool and relaxing and they keep us comfy, while the cushions feel like actual clouds. They’re stuffed with premium down but still offer excellent support — which my lower back very much appreciates — so it doesn’t feel like you’re sinking or struggling to stand up. Our dogs agree: We have to beg them to get off of it and go to bed.

The design is beautiful and truly functional. Beyond comfort, this sectional is beautiful too. The style is calm, chic, and neutral enough to work in just about any space. It’s held up beautifully with daily use — no sagging, no pilling, no wear and tear. And yes, it’s very pet-friendly.

One of our favorite features is the sofa’s removable and washable cushion covers. When our niece and nephew left a stain behind during a recent sleepover, we were able to split the cover right off and machine-wash it — and it came out looking like new.

Why We Love the Soka Home Tender Wabi-Sabi Sectional

This sectional checks every box for us: breathable, cozy, modular, supportive, washable, and beautiful. The high-quality down cushions provide a level of comfort I didn’t know I could feel on a modular sofa. The deep seating is also great for lounging, the modular design makes it versatile for any awkward space, and the soft linen fabric is both hypoallergenic and naturally moisture-wicking.

We’re also big fans of the low seating profile — it makes the whole room feel more relaxed — and the armrest pillows offer the perfect support for reading, napping, or just scrolling. Even the legs are smartly designed to protect your floors.

Bonus: The matching ottoman (not shown here) is a star player during movie nights. We swap it in for the coffee table, and suddenly the sectional turns into a giant lounge zone for the whole family.

Final Thoughts: Is It Worth the Price Tag?

If you’re considering investing in the Soka Home Tender Wabi-Sabi Sectional, here’s my honest take: You won’t regret it. It’s rare to find a sectional this beautiful, breathable, durable, and easy to clean — especially one that ships modularly and fits into tough spaces. While the price tag on this sofa is absolutely a major investment, it’s currently on sale for $5,720 if you have your eye on it and you’re looking to save.

We’ve been lounging on it for over 60 days, and every week we find new reasons to love it more.
