When you lack the good fortune of having an in-unit washer and dryer like I do, you have to be extra judicious about how many times you wear clothes before tossing them in the hamper. Laundry piles up quickly, after all, and I refuse to go to the laundromat more often than necessary. The only issue with re-wearing clothing items is that they wrinkle — fast — and they don’t always smell daisy-fresh, if you catch my drift. So when I got the chance to try The Laundress’ Fabric Spray, I was all in. It ended up changing my laundry routine for the better. Here’s how.

What Is The Laundress’ Fabric Spray?

You probably know The Laundress for its luxe laundry detergents that editors swear by, but the Fabric Spray needs to be on your radar, too. It’s a fabric refreshing spray that gently releases creases and wrinkles while leaving a fresh fragrance behind, so you can get more wear out of your clothes between washes (no steaming, no ironing, no worries). The spray comes in the brand’s “Classic” fragrance, which is essentially their elevated take on a clean laundry scent. It has everything: crisp marine and citrus notes, fresh florals, and soft musk and woods. Oh, and did I mention it can also be used on bedding to smooth out wrinkles?

Why I Love The Laundress’ Fabric Spray

The first thing I noticed about the Fabric Spray was the scent; it truly smells like perfume for your clothes. The fresh, musky fragrance is a cross between a powdery baby scent, clean linens, and soft woods. But it’s also not noxious or overpowering, which I appreciate as someone who enjoys a spritz or two of perfume every day.

Most important, though, is the fact that it actually works — especially on my wrinkle-prone, button-down shirts. I simply don’t have the time nor the energy to steam or iron these pieces between wears, so the spray has been a game-changer for smoothing out wrinkles when I’m in a pinch. In the end, it looks like I didn’t just dig the shirts out from the pile on my floor (even though I did).

Here’s how I use it: After picking out the following day’s outfit before going to bed, I lightly spritz my clothes with the Fabric Spray and smooth out the fabric with my hand. It only takes a couple of passes before I start to see a difference. While the result isn’t as crisp as it would be with a round of ironing, the pieces look significantly smoother, in my opinion (check out the before and after above!), and not like a crinkly mess. And, of course, they smell divine — even better than my usual fabric softener. Now instead of tossing things in the hamper after one wear, I can wear a shirt up to three or four times before adding it to the laundry pile. That’s a win in my book!

I’ve even started misting clothes as I take them off the drying rack (which can often leave big creases in the fabric); the Fabric Spray helps nip the wrinkles in the bud, while leaving a fancy-fresh fragrance behind. While I haven’t been able to skip ironing altogether, I find I don’t have to iron as many pieces as I did before. The Fabric Spray is a huge time-saver!
