Name: Michelle Location: Los Angeles, CA I’ve lived in my rental apartment for almost 5 years (I’m the building manager) and hadn’t changed much of the hand-me-down furniture that i scrapped together when i moved in. I recently turned 30 and took a look around and realized the place didn’t fit me anymore- I had grown out of the look and style of the entire place. I then started on a mission to re-design the entire place!

Name: Jack Location: Chicago, IL My apartment is in an amazing vintage building in Lakeview that used to be owned by the Roosevelt family. There is no lack of character, which is one of the best parts aside from great lakeside location. Although it’s a smaller unit (roughly 450 sf) as a result of the chopped up floor plans when it was converted to a rental building, it’s very efficient.

Name: Lisa Location: Maryland Welcome to my fresh, comfy and magical mid century home! Built in 1961, this home has been through many updates over the years, including my own recent enhancements since purchasing the home in July 2014. I love the central location in the wonderful waterfront community of Olde Severna Park which allows my daughters and I and our dogs Mojo and FJ, quick walking access to restaurants, our community walking trail and our beautiful beach on the Severna River.

Name: Stephanie and Ryan Sievert Location: Wicker Park; Chicago, Illinois Size: approx. 900 square feet Years lived in: 2 years, Rented Walking into Ryan and Stephanie’s top floor Chicago apartment, you are immediately greeted with a wealth of light and music. The stylish, tidily arranged furniture and decor is a direct result of the superb taste shared by the couple. For two years they have inhabited this artful space with their two cats, Meatloaf and Vom.

Name: Amanda Gluck Location: Flatiron, New York Size: 3 bedroom, 3 bath, 1,800 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; Rented It might be easy to feel a tinge of jealousy entering a 3-bedroom apartment overlooking 5th Avenue in Manhattan, but Amanda’s personality will squash that immediately. As someone who makes her living by being hospitable as a Fashionable Hostess, visitors are comfortable and well taken care of in her beautiful abode.

My husband and I are photographers and we had a wedding to photograph in Rosendal, Norway. The first thing we did after booking the wedding was go to Airbnb to look for a place to stay. That’s when we found Signe’s amazing house. There isn’t a single spot in this beautiful home that hasn’t been cared for. Signe is an interior designer, and has been working on a television program in Norway that focuses on interior design.

Name: Cate Grosch Location: San Francisco, California My husband, two young children and our dog just moved to a new place in the Marina. We love the light, the high ceilings and the little nook off the kitchen. We painted the dining room black and added a dramatic fixture from Jonathan Adler. Name: Sofia Location: Waltham, Massachusetts I bought my house about a year ago, on my own. It’s a 1910 New England colonial, which had been rented out for decades. Because of this, the previous owners had neglected to paint over the original wood trim, mess with the steam heat, or do any renovations whatsoever (including the decision not to put something as frivolous as a sink in the main room of the kitchen!).

We recently did a major renovation of it ourselves – we’re architects!
